Serve All Souls’.

Lay Ministry.

When we are baptized into Christ, we are baptized into a life of service. We have, each of us, been called to the high vocation of becoming the church, the mystical body of Christ. The church is not composed of a few clergy, who minister, and a lot of lay people who passively receive that ministry. Rather, lay people and clergy alike are called to serve the church—to become the church—by offering ourselves in service. All Souls’ is blessed by a community of faithful servants who offer their time and talent to the expansion of God’s kingdom right here in Oklahoma City.

Altar Guild.

The Altar Guide is a group of approximately 50 women who undertake the care of our beautiful church. You may not see these women as they go about the work of caring for altar linens, polishing silver, attending to candles and generally keeping the sacristy running smoothly, but the “blue smock ladies” are there behind the scenes.

Ushers.

Ushers play a vital role in church services by helping people find seats, providing information to newcomers, and ensuring the peace and security of partitioners during worship.

For more information, please contact Ken Fay, Steve Knox, or Anna Polk

Music.

Our choir glorifies God and beautifies his holy church on Sundays and feast days. Auditions take place at regular intervals throughout the year.

If you are a musician or vocalist interested in lending your skill to our church, please contact Dr. Laura van der Windt

Educators.

Faithful and dedicated teachers are indispensable to the health and vitality of church community. These lay teachers instruct children, youth, and adults in the faith, by offering occasional lectures, teaching Sunday school, or leading themed classes.

To get involved, contact: Fr. Andrew Johnson (adult education), Terry Prather (youth education), or Alicia Fay (child education)

Acolytes.

Acolytes are given the great responsibility of assisting the priests at the holy altar during worship services. This role provides our youth a wonderful opportunity to become personally involved and invested in the work of the church.

To inquire about about opportunities to serve as an acolyte, please contact Anna Polk

Guild of St. Paul.

The purpose of this guild is to be a caring contact with members of All Souls,’ functioning as the “Inreach Committee” of the church body. On the second Tuesday of each month, volunteers meet in the afternoon to write short personal notes to church members who have been ill, hospitalized, home bound, or are residing in a care facility. We also write sympathy cards to those who have suffered the loss of a loved one.

Stephen Ministry.

The mission of this ministry is to support the priests of our parish in providing additional care givers for individuals who have experienced grief, hospitalization, terminal illness, unemployment, divorce, relocation, chronic illness or loneliness. Lay Readers.

Lay readers play an integral role in the worship of the church by reading scripture in clear, resonant voices at weekday and weekend services. We are grateful to our lay readers for their commitment to proclaiming the Word of God.

“Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal…For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.”

1 Corinthians 12: 4–7, 12
